The History of Football

Tailgating, ice cold beer, hot dogs grilling, hamburgers cooking, Sunday afternoons at the stadium, friendly rivalry between friends, family, and co-workers, and hot cheerleaders only means one thing...football season is here. Football has emerged from a game that used to kill players which not many people watched to a game that has a following of millions of fans, millions of television sets turned in to various games specific to the favorite National Football League (NFL) team that is playing that weekend and hundreds of thousands of dollars spend on tickets, merchandise, and stadium foods every year. Not only that, but millions of children every year find a new role model to idolize in football players.

Not many fans know the history of the game of football, however short it is. The first game that was played by a college or university in America was on November 6, 1869 between the universities of Rutgers and Princeton. Each team had 20 players on the field at one time, which, as any modern day fan knows, are too many players. This sort of play resembled more of a Rugby game than what is known today as a football game. The rules for college football play were established in 1873 and limited the number of players on the field to 15 instead of 20. A major concern, and a big reason for the lowering of players on the field, was the safety of the players and this concern has not ended today.

Walter Camp, who was a big proponent of the game of football, only wanted to have 11 players on the field at one time. Eventually, he got his way and the players were slimmed down to 11. Camp was instrumental in changing many things about football, so that it looks like the game that we play today. He began a system of counting the number of tries it took a team to move the ball 5 yards. These, he called downs and limited the team's try to 3 downs per 5 yards. If they did not move the ball 5 yards within the allotted downs, the other team got the ball. This was called a turnover. This changed as well, over time. The yardage that had to be met was changed to 10 yards in 1906. The next change to happen was in 1912 when the 4th down was added to give the players a little more time to get those ten yards in somehow. This is still in play today.

This sport was extremely rough in its beginnings, unlike now, when a player or two may die in one year of professional play. In one year of college play, there were 180 injuries serious enough to warrant a doctor's visit and 18 dead players. Because of these injuries and deaths, the game was shortened to 60 minutes of play instead of the original 70. The rules were changes to eliminate purposeful rough play and a buffer zone was created between the teams to keep them separated.

Do You Really Want First Row Chiefs Tickets?

First row Chiefs tickets on the lower level of Arrowhead Stadium! It sounds like any football fan's dream come true. While first row seats are a real treat, they're not always the right choice for everyone. Let's look at some of the pros and cons of watching KC football from Row One.

The Pros of Front Row Chiefs Tickets

There are a few very attractive aspects of sitting right on the field.

First, the pre-game becomes a much different experience. Warm-ups and festivities take on a whole new dimension when they unfold right in front of you.

Second, it's an opportunity to be in the eye of a hurricane. Arrowhead Stadium is well-known as the NFL's loudest venue and there's no better way to soak in that great atmosphere than by sitting on the lowest row of the lower bowl. You'll really understand why the crowd is the defense's twelfth man!

Third, it provides you with a one-of-a-kind opportunity to experience the intensity and athleticism of NFL football. You'll hear the grunts, groans, cracking pads and yells of the players. You really feel like part of the action when you're in the first row.

Fourth, the lowest row is traditionally associated with VIPs and high rollers. It can be an opportunity to experience that bigshot status and to rub elbows with others who are doing the same.

Fifth, if you've always wanted to get a good look at those Chiefs cheerleaders, there's no better place on earth!

The Cons of Front Row Chiefs Tickets

While it's hard to outweigh the positives of first row seats, there are a few things you should know.

First, if you're on the far end of the field, you will not have the greatest view of the opposite end. The lower row, obviously, trades off with maintaining a larger perspective. The view isn't dramatically compromised and there are Jumbo-trons on both ends to help, but it's something worth considering.

Second, if you're worried about precipitation, you might be happier with lower level seats that are up higher than the thirtieth row. Those can provide you with cover, as the Club level overhangs the lower bowl. When you're right on the field, you're fully exposed to the elements!

Overall, first row Chiefs tickets are a great opportunity to experience NFL football in an entirely different way than most fans. They do have a few drawbacks, but on-balance they are a great option for most fans.

Reebok Freestyle

In 1982, Reebok introduced the Reebok "Freestyle", a woman's athletic shoe designed for aerobic exercise. This new shoe marked a shift in the athletic shoes market towards athletic shoes designed for sports other than jogging (aerobics, basketball, etc.) and towards the female market for sports shoes (before the 1980's jogging was primarily a "man's" hobby). With a price tag of 60 dollars, the Reebok was shockingly expensive at the time. Some people called it the most expensive sports shoe in the world.

The original Freestyle was an Oxford-style (lace-up) shoe made out of white leather. It was adorned simply with the word "Reebok" in light blue lettering and a picture of the British Union Jack flag on the side of the shoe. The original Freestyle was a low top with a yellow gum sole. In the mid 1980's Reebok released the distinctive high-top Freestyles. In addition to laces, these shoes closed with two Velcro straps around the ankle. They were available in bright, funky colors such as pink, orange, green and yellow. Most of the high-top Reeboks were made out of leather but some canvas and mesh versions of the shoe were also released on the market.

Reeboks were a hit among the new female athletic market. The shoe sponsored the Los Angeles Lakers Girls in the 1980s, and the shoes soon became a hit with cheerleading squads and dance teams across the nation. In addition to athletics, the Freestyle quickly became something of a fashion must-have. Cybill Shepherd complemented her black strapless gown with a bright orange pair of Freestyles at the 1985 Emmy's. Punky Brewster started the trend of wearing two different colors of Freestyle (an orange on the left foot and a purple on the right foot, for example) at the same time.

On the 25th anniversary of the release of the Freestyle, Reebok decided to launch a campaign it called "Freestyles Forever". This campaign selected six celebrity women (actors, singers, models, etc.) from six major cities in the world. Ali Yasuda, the first Japanese NFL cheerleader, represented Tokyo; Nikki Beatnik, a popular British DJ, represented London; Yelle, the French singer, represented Paris; Sagarika Chatghe, a Bollywood star from India, represented New Dehli; Bimba Bose, a internationally acclaimed model from Spain, represented Madrid; and actress Sheetal Sheth was the face of Freestyle for New York. The event was designed to look back and celebrate the culturally pertinent history of the Reebok Freestyle shoe.

Don't take anything for granted about what players know. Tell them everything that could possibly happen on a play, offense or defense. For Example, there position of there feet on a block or if you are talking to the backs, what a linebacker will do. Write everything you know down for the positions you coach; Hits, drills, tricks, knowledge of what could happen on a play. Convey this to each position. Sports Collectible - What You Must Have To Be Cool

Sports collectibles are goodies that every sports lover will want to get their hands on. There are exclusive sports collectible stores around the world where one can feast their eyes on their team gears, foot wear or other apparels worn by then during the match, and also find autographed balls and bats up for sale. Sometimes these memorabilia might be on sale, and other times they could be bought by bidding on the price and if yours is the highest you might win the product. Whatever be the mode of getting hold of these valuables, sports enthusiasts across the world don't mind or think twice about shelling out money over these items. For some it is a must have, and for others its something they add to their collection. As long as one knows their limits and is aware of how much time and money they are spending on these, its safe, else it becomes an addiction which is unhealthy. It would eat up their savings and time leaving them with no income or way to take care of their family.

Autographed footballs, helmets, bats and balls, or even photographs by leading players would be worth a lot, and are available only in limited quantities. So, if one has any hope of grabbing one of these treasured memorabilia, they should touch base with one of the websites that will have stocks. Some of the stores and sites have antique products or those of legendary players we which are considered part of vintage collection. Greeting cards with a player's picture on it, or a autographed picture of Tiger woods, or maybe the shoes used by Ronaldo are all things that would sell instantly. All sports collectibles are available for the public to buy and some are more expensive than others because of their history or maybe because they are the last piece left.

Display cases, and plaques of your favorite team would look beautiful when placed along with other pictures and mementos on the mantle and so people flock towards these stores to buy them. Some have this as a hobby while for others its a passionate part time thing. They would be part of a group or forum where all members are into sports and they each have a huge collection of memorabilia. They might all meet up once in a while to discuss the latest game, the players and also share information where a particular memorabilia might be available or seek others' help while interesting in a piece of jewelery or photo that is available in another town. The sports collectible are a major rage among teenagers, as it forms part of who they are, a reflection of their personalities and they look up to these sports stars and try to impersonate them. For others, these sports collectibles are a way of being in touch with their fondest memories or a match that created a revolution or to look back on a glorious moment involving their favorite teams.

Pro Bowl Packages

The Pro Bowl has a long history that football fans are quite familiar with. In essence the Pro Bowl takes the best players from all teams, and plays an "all-star" game facing off the two main conference in the NFL, which are the NFC and the AFC. The game is normally held after the Super Bowl. The very first Pro Bowl team was selected in 1938, and the game was played in January 1939 in Los Angeles. The game was moved each year to several stadiums around the country, before finding it's home in 1980 at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu. The game was played there for 30 years straight, until last year (2009,) where the game was moved to Miami Florida, at the Sun Life Stadium, which is the home stadium to the AFC team, the Miami Dolphins. Not only was the move unusual, but the NFL also decided to play the game before the Super Bowl rather than after, as had been the tradition since the late 1930's. The move was not a popular one with players, team owners or football fans. One primary concern was that a key player could get injured prior to the Super Bowl, causing many of the best players to sit out of the game entirely.

Football fans love attending the game because events usually stretch out over an entire week, not to mention enjoying the beauty of Hawaii. Many run into their favorite players at hotel bars and pools. If you are interested in attending the Pro Bowl game, there are many packages to choose from, however there are a few keys things to keep in mind.

First of all, consider arriving a few days early if you want to take advantage of the free NFL experience. The NFL Experience offers lots of activities two days prior to the game. There are live performances by popular bands, players signing autographs, NFL cheerleaders, BBQs and lots of places to buy memorabilia.

The next thing to look for is the type of hotel accommodations being include with the package. Is the hotel rated three, four or five stars? How far is the hotel from the stadium, or is their transportation included in your price. Does your room have a view? All are factors that affect the price of the vacation.

The location of your tickets can also have an impact on pricing. Many standard packages come with end zone or upper section tickets. If you want a better view, consider buying a package that includes lower level tickets or perhaps even club level tickets which usually come with added amenities.

There is also a more exclusive event called the NFL pre-game Tailgate Party. Unlike the NFL experience, admission is not free, and can run over $200 pp. Included in the price of admission are plenty of food booths, reserved seating, an open bar that includes beers, soft drinks and wine, appearances by celebrities and popular NFL players, live entertainment and a commemorative gift. The pre-game party is held at Richardson Field right across the street from the stadium. It is a great way to spend time before the game with football fans from all over the country. Only a limited amount of tickets are available for this event, so make sure and book early if you are interested. Some packages build it into their prices, providing a better value than if you bought the tickets separately.

One company is offering a new experience for 2011, called a post-game NFL field experience. This will allow fans to walk on the field after the game and take pictures. It always gives a unique perspective to be on the field versus watching it from the stadium.

As always, make sure you are booking with a reputable company or travel agent. Ask for confirmations in writing before placing a deposit to ensure that everything noted on the website is being included in the final package.

Visit this sports page if you are interested in more information on Pro Bowl packages.

Tips to Purchase NFL Jersey Wholesale

For some it is an easy decision to go into the business as an NFL jersey wholesaler or to add them as stock in a retail store. They are very popular among the sporting youth. NFL games attract hundreds of spectators each supporting one of the teams on the field and parading around in their colors and NFL jerseys emblazoned with the logo of their team. The sport, being very specific to the US has a national following in the country with events being organized regularly and authentic NLF jerseys are in great demand. Buying NFL jerseys wholesale has become an integral part of the business to ensure good quality, well prices stock.

With NLF jerseys authentic is the name of the game. Wearing an authentic NFL jersey is in a way status and also shows a deeper level of support for your team knowing that a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the jersey goes to the team and to the NFL themselves so that they are able to pay for good coaches, hunt for new talent, and employ great looking cheerleaders among other things, which will please the crowd.

NFL jersey wholesalers need to bear this in mind when purchasing from manufacturers as they need to be licensed in order to pay royalties to the NFL. Wholesalers found not complying may earn themselves a reputation for selling replica NFL jerseys and lose a great deal of previously guaranteed business.

For retailers looking forward to purchase NFL jerseys wholesale China has proven to be their best bet. In China not only is the labor cheaper due to lower costs of living but also use cheaper materials in the manufacture of their NFL jerseys. The reason for this is because there are factories dedicated to producing even the small parts that are required for their product in China, so they can be purchased without expensive transportation et cetera.

When selling jerseys manufacturers are able to get their money back quickly with only a small amount of profit. This profit is worth it, since they get a fast return on their money. However, ultimately because in the end they have a greater turnover of products and are able to keep their workers busy, every one is happy around. On the flip side of this coin jersey wholesalers are able to buy larger quantities and make larger profits or keep their prices down so that their customers can enjoy the benefits of wholesale too.

Many wholesalers are simply just that. They purchase in bulk, add a mark-up and send their products out to retailers who take care of the marketing for the products. In much the same way as China has factories that specialize in the manufacture of very specific items so does an NFL jersey wholesaler choose to specialize in buying and resale. They act as distributors to smaller retailers who prefer to have smaller quantities of each product and instead a larger range. When looking forward to purchase NLF jerseys wholesale is your answer.

Skin Rejuvenation Options - Laser Resurfacing and Microdermabrasion

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Want to rejuvenate your skin and banish blemishes but are afraid of going under the knife? Today there is a variety of new alternatives to invasive cosmetic surgery. With great results and no incisions necessary, facial treatments like laser skin resurfacing and microdermabrasion are gaining popularity among men and women.

Laser Skin Resurfacing -

Laser resurfacing can treat a huge array of problems ... removing unsightly scars, spider veins, wrinkles, discoloration, and acne.

The type of laser used will depend on the particular treatment sought, but the basic process uses beams of light to remove the outer dermal. A new, undamaged and blemish-free complexion will be revealed.

Sessions can last anywhere from thirty minutes to two hours, depending on the size of the treatment area and extent of the damage being treated. Most patients will have to make repeat visits for optimal results. It is most often used on the face, but also works well on other common problem areas of the body like the thighs.

Although highly effective and able to treat a wide variety of problems, the recovery period for laser skin resurfacing can be a nuisance. The treated areas will be dressed for a few days and once removed, the area will have to be protected with Vaseline until fully healed ten to twenty days later. Even after twenty days, skin might remain red for anywhere from two to six months afterwards, especially for fair individuals.

Fortunately, the pain level is minimal, usually equivalent to that of mild sunburn with some dryness and peeling. If you're looking for a milder treatment with less downtime, you might consider microdermabrasion.

Microdermabrasion -

During a microdermabrasion treatment an instrument that resembles a wand is massaged over the area, using any one of a variety of materials including zinc oxide or organic particles. The topmost dermal layer is abraded off.

What results is the removal of fine lines, blemishes, mild sun damage, acne, and some discoloration. Afterwards you're left with a new, undamaged layer of skin that can be penetrated more easily by topical moisturizers and creams. Initially the area may be irritable or red, but this usually disappears a few hours afterwards.

Microdermabrasion works best when used fairly regularly. By receiving repeated treatments, deeper dermal flaws might eventually be removed or diminished, and it will promote the process of new cell growth, giving skin a refreshed appearance.

There are also machines and creams that are available for home use. These are effective to some extent, but as you would expect, they are not nearly as powerful as the equipment available in a cosmetic surgeon's office.

Most people aren't born with a flawless complexion, and the effects of time and harmful elements can mark your skin with permanent blemishes. A good skincare regime is paramount in maintaining a healthy glow, but for those imperfections you can't reach with topical lotions and creams, laser resurfacing or microdermabrasion are both winning options.
